History

Trakya Yağlı Tohumlar Tarım Satış Kooperatifler Birliği established by the Agriculture Sales Cooperatives for Oil Seeds of Babaeski, Edirne and Lüleburgaz in 1966, is known by its abbreviated name “Trakya Birlik”.

Trakya Birlik showing a fast and stable development since its years of foundation until today, has increased its number of cooperation from 3 to 48, who are active in the regions of Marmara, the Aegean and Inner Anatolia. Whereas the number of partners of 2103 at the time of foundation increased to 40.000 today.

Trakya Birlik purchases in average 30-50% of the sunflowers grown in our country.

In the years of its establishment, Trakya Birlik was storing the products, which it purchased from its partners and sunflower growers and sold them when the price was convenient. It was “Evaluating the products of its partners and further, meeting the needs of the growers such as seeds, manure, agriculture equipment”. In 1976, it bought the Karacabey Oil Factory. As of 1982, upon the gradual launch of production of the integrated plants, it started to produce refined oil, margarine and professional feed and set its new purpose as follows: “Preventing price fluctuations having negative affect on the grower and consumer, increasing the profit of the grower by reducing the number of intermediaries by making finished goods from products and to render economic services to the consumer, offering qualitative products to the market, providing high-efficient seeds through its affiliation seed company and to enhance the oil rate and to ensure balance and saving in the use of manure by its soil analysis laboratory giving free-of charge services”.
